a Few of our Favorite Things: Books

Authors-Fiction/Nonfiction (author and book/series)

Author/s – Book/s

A tie between David Eddings (The Belgariad and The Eleniun) and L.E. Modesitt Jr. (The Saga of Recluce and Spellsong Cycle)

Its hard to not say The Holy Spirit (being that He inspired the writings of the Christian Bible) as the body of works that have His “seal” upon them have changed my life (heck the whole world really) in such dramatic ways… so there you have it (as for a favorite story or book: Daniel and Timothy 1st&2nd)

Every day I get into the bible and I try to read it with my children as well. This book is the most amazing book I have ever read and reread. It has been an instrument in changing me, correcting me, and directing me. It is the most impactful book and has stirred all kinds of emotions and question in me. It has 66 authors spanning thousands of years and all were lead by the Holy Spirit.

Great Books on Christianity: the Pursuit of God,  the Knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer Desiring God by John Piper. The Prodigal God Timothy Keller’s.,  Answers to Prayer, by George Muller.  The Pursuit of Holiness by Jerry Bridges.

I love pride and prejudice this is another book I have read over and over again. I love the characters and the situations. I love how they change and become aware of their faults. It is a gorgeous book, I love it. I love Jane Austen as well. She is a fantastic writer I have read some of her other books but my favorite is pride and prejudice.

I also love the Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. I have read almost all of them to my children. I think they are fun and have great themes in them.   I also like his Screwtape letters,  the characters are fun and it makes you think.

I am also enjoying listening to the Ann of Green Gables series by Lucy Maud Montgomery. These are fun and the way children behave is real and take me back to when I was a child. I used to watch the TV series on PBS.

Almost forgot this one but I love the Hobbit. I have read the entire series of the Lord of the Rings but to me, the Hobbit is a finer piece of work.  I read it in a week and loved every moment. I have loved it so much that it is now falling apart.
